FAQS

Frequently Asked Questions

We understand there are many things to think about when planning your move.
Below please find answers to some common questions.

What other types of assistance may residents receive?

In addition to our full range of services, including fine dining, recreation daily and 24/7 nursing, staff assists with individual residents needs such as oxygen management, nebulizer treatments, and insulin injections. We also assist with personal care such as bathing and dressing. Specialized diet options are also available.

Is Sweetbriar licensed by the state of West Virginia?

Yes, our residence is licensed and inspected by the West Virginia Department of Health. Department of Health regulated Assisted Living residences provide assistance with all activities of daily living, including: three meals per day; personal care services such as bathing, dressing, and grooming; medication management; recreational programming; transportation to appointments; 24-hour supervision for any emergencies or care needs. Although not required by the Department of Health, Sweetbriar has Licensed Professional Nurses on-site 24/7.

Can my loved one continue to see their own doctor?

Yes, residents have the choice of keeping their personal physician or being referred to the in- house physician/nurse practitioner.

How will my loved one get to appointments outside the residence?

Sweetbriar offers complimentary transportation services for medical appointments.

Can we bring our own furniture?

Yes, our rooms are fully furnished; however, we encourage residents to bring their favorite belongings.

What are the visiting hours?

You can visit your loved one at any time during the day

Can I take my loved one out of the building?

Yes. Trips off-site with family members are encouraged. We simply ask that you check with your Nurses Station and take all appropriate medication with you for the length of time your loved one will be gone. Residents and guests are required to sign in and out at the reception desk. ****Due to Covid restrictions, we are not allowing family members to take their loved ones out of the community unless medically necessary.

Will my loved one lose his/her independence?

We recognize that each of our residents have individual needs. At Sweetbriar we promote resident independence and provide an environment that encourages this as well as making lasting friendships with other residents.

Should I expect a large Entrance Fee?

Our communities do not require a large “buy in” option. The entrance fee is a one-time fee due at admission, compared to larger CCRC’s, this entrance fee is minimal. Our assistance provides a seamless move in process where the SMDR and/or Case Manager work alongside the responsible parties to obtain the required documentation needed for an admission.

If my loved one needs a higher level of care do they have to move out of their home?

Sweetbriar is an Age in Place Community – residents remain in their home if their care needs increase, unless their needs require memory care.

Can my loved one have a pet?

Yes, we are pet friendly with a one-time pet deposit of $500.
